The new Royal Decree of Approval to regulate the recognition of professional effects Medical specialist titles obtained in non-EU members, could be approved in March. Meanwhile, doctors registered for non approved under the current system test conducted on 13 February.

The RD is part of the package of measures proposed by the Ministry of Health and Social Policy to mitigate the shortage of doctors in some specialties and respond mobility of health professionals in different countries, all without harming the quality achieved by Spain in the training of specialists, as explained by the minister, Trinidad Jimenez, on several occasions.
However, there are like-minded organizations like the General Medical Council or the National Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM), for whom the measure will not come if not to produce comparative grievances with the academic level English doctors required and create a surplus of specialists. That is why both bodies appear to favor maintaining the current system of approval but to introduce some improvements in its operating rules, such as the streamlining and transparency of processes.

Students who pass the theoretical exercise may be submitted to the second exercise, consisting of the resolution of three case studies in order to assess the technical skills of candidates.
